Ilka Papp Zakor is a Romanian writer. She was born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and it was there that she learned to read and write. She wrote her first text when she was only four: it was a lullaby for a mouse. She speaks Russian, Polish, English, Romanian, and Hungarian, and she studied Russian and Hungarian philology in Cluj-Napoca. After receiving a master’s degree in Hungarian she moved to Helsinki, Finland, where she semi-officially attended biology courses at the university. She also improved her mouse-training skills, and finally moved back to Central Europe, to Budapest. The manuscript to her first book won the JAK-kendő award and was published in 2015.
Augustin Cupsa was born in 1980 in Romania. He studied Psychiatry in Bucharest. In 2006, he published his first book, which won several debut prizes and nominations. In the same year, he won the HBO Romania Prize for short script and the European Alliance for Television and Culture scholarship to study screenwriting. He collaborated with different television channels, wrote short scripts and participated in the adaptation of the two seasons of “In Treatment” for HBO Romania. In 2011, he published a new short story collection, and two years later, another one, The Great Joys and The Great Sorrows , which was nominated for Fiction Book of the Year at the Romanian Book Industry Awards. Some of his short stories were included in Romanian anthologies and translated into Swedish, Turkish, English, and Slovenian.
Radu Paraschivescu, born in Bucharest in 1960, is a very popular Romanian writer, columnist, and translator. He is the author of three novels, a collection of short stories, a book of essays on foul play in sports, an essay on uncouth behavior, and two collections of stupid quotes. Over the last eighteen years, Radu Paraschivescu has rendered into Romanian over sixty books from various fields such as fiction, sports encyclopedias, management, art history, nationalism, politics, and history. Among the authors he has translated one can count Julian Barnes, D.H. Lawrence, Virginia Woolf, Salman Rushdie, Kazuo Ishiguro, William Burroughs, John Steinbeck, and more. Radu Paraschivescu currently works as a senior editor for the Humanitas Publishing House and contributes to prominent Romanian newspapers and magazines.
