Born in Berlin in 1961, the youngest son of former German chancellor Willy Brandt, Matthias Brandt is one of Germany’s most famous actors. After completing his studies in Hanover, he worked at a number of prestigious theaters in the German-speaking countries. In recent years he has worked mainly in film and television. Matthias Brandt has received many awards for his acting. His 2016 short story collection, Raumpatrouille (Space Patrol), marked his début as a writer and was on the bestseller list for months.
