Matías Candeira is a Spanish writer and screenwriter, born in Madrid in 1984. He completed his master’s degree in Audiovisual Communication from the Complutense University and holds a diploma in film and television script by ECAM. He has published two collections of short stories (2009, 2010), and some of his creative work has been adapted into short films and video games. His texts have been published in various magazines and anthologies. In 2010, he obtained a scholarship to reside in the Antonio Gala Foundation for Young Creators, and that same year he co-starred with Mario Vargas Llosa in the documentary “A Writer’s Duty” (“El oficio del escribidor”). In 2013, he won the Han Nèfkens Foundation scholarship for literary work, one of the most important for young Spanish-speaking authors. He is a regular collaborator of various portals and he currently works as a professor at the Writers’ School in Madrid. He has also received numerous literary prizes for his work, among many others, the INJUVE Prize for Narrative, Ignacio Aldecoa Short Story Award, Young Creators Contest of the Madrid City Council, and the Tomás Fermín de Arteta International Prize for Narrative.
