Alona Kimchi is an Israeli author, play-writer and actress. She was born in 1966, in Lvov in the Ukraine, and came to Israel with her family in 1972. Following her graduation from the Beit Tzvi Academy for Performing Arts, Kimhi began acting in theater and film. In 1993, she began to focus on writing plays, lyrics and articles. In 1996, she published her first book, a short stories collection, I, Anastasia, which was awarded the ACUM Book of the Year Prize. So far Kimchi has published 4 more novels that were translated to numerous languages and won public and critical acclaim. She was awarded several prizes including Bernstein Prize for best novel of the year in Israel, the WIZO Prize in France, and the Israel’s Prime Minister`s Prize. Alona Kimchi lives in Tel Aviv with her husband the singer Yizhar Ashdot and their son.
