Sally Shivnan

Sally Shivnan is an American author whose fiction and essays have appeared in The Georgia ReviewAntioch ReviewGlimmer TrainRosebud, and other journals. Her short story collection Piranhas & Quicksand & Love was published in 2016 by Press 53; and her travel essays have been featured in The Washington PostMiami HeraldSaturday Evening Post, and many other publications and websites. Her work has won a number of awards, including the 2011 Travel Classics International travel writing prize and a Maryland State Arts Council grant. Her bi-weekly “Prose and Poetry” radio program for blind listeners is available for streaming at the Radio Reading Network of Maryland. She teaches at University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), and shares her thoughts and her writing at SallyShivnan.com.
